Oscar Piastri admitted that asking for McLaren team orders after receiving a penalty in the British Grand Prix wouldn’t have been fair to his teammate Lando Norris. Piastri’s penalty for a safety car infringement allowed Norris to secure the victory, reducing Piastri’s championship lead to just eight points. Following the incident where Piastri braked during the safety car restart, causing Max Verstappen to narrowly miss colliding with Norris, Piastri was penalized for erratic driving. Despite his frustration, Piastri recognized that requesting a team swap wasn’t the right move, as Norris had done nothing wrong. Piastri accepted the team’s decision and vowed to channel his frustration into winning future races, acknowledging that the outcome of the British Grand Prix won’t affect his championship mindset.
